rust-toolchain.toml

# THE COMPILER, and it is the build container's compiler.
#
# 1.97.1 is what the pinned `nordisk-cargo-toolchain` image carries
# (`crates/monetize-build-thing`, `[build.toolchain] rust_version`). The
# Build Thing compiles in that image with `--network none`, and rustup inside it
# honours this file: MEASURED 2026-09-24, `channel = "1.96.0"` made every cargo
# call in the container try to download 1.96.0 and die on DNS. Naming the
# image's compiler makes rustup resolve to the installed toolchain.
#
# No `components` line, for the same reason: the image carries no
# rustfmt/clippy, and listing them sends rustup to the network. A developer who
# wants them runs `rustup component add clippy rustfmt --toolchain 1.97.1` once.
