# Commercial licensing
monetize's source code is licensed under **AGPL-3.0-only** (see [`LICENSE`](LICENSE)).
The AGPL is a strong network-copyleft license: if you run a modified version of
monetize and let users interact with it over a network, the AGPL requires you to
offer those users the corresponding source of your modified version.
That obligation does not fit every organization. The original monetize code is owned
jointly, in **equal shares (50/50)**, by **Vetra Automation AB** and **Ignalina ApS**.
As co-owners, **Vetra Automation AB and Ignalina ApS can jointly offer the same code
under separate commercial terms** — for example, to organizations that want to embed
or modify monetize without the AGPL's source-availability obligations.
## What this document is — and is not
- This is **informational**. It describes that a commercial option exists and how
to start a conversation about it.
- It is **not** a license grant, an offer, or a contract. **No commercial license
exists until both co-owners — Vetra Automation AB and Ignalina ApS — and the
licensee sign a written agreement.**
- Simply contacting the co-owners, downloading monetize, or using it does **not** grant
you a commercial license or waive any AGPL obligation. Until a commercial
agreement is executed, your use is governed solely by AGPL-3.0-only.
- Nothing here is legal advice. Obtain your own legal review of how the AGPL
applies to your deployment.
## Who might want a commercial license
You may want to get in touch if you intend to:
- distribute a modified monetize, or offer it as a hosted/SaaS service, without
meeting the AGPL §13 network source-availability requirement;
- embed monetize (or substantial parts of it) into a proprietary product;
- obtain a warranty, indemnity, support, or SLA that the open-source license
explicitly disclaims.
If you deploy an **unmodified** monetize internally and are comfortable with the
AGPL, you generally do **not** need a commercial license — the open-source
license already covers that use.
## How to get in touch
Write to **gunnar@gunnar.rs**. Please include:
- your organization and intended use (internal, hosted/SaaS, embedded/OEM);
- whether you intend to modify monetize;
- the scope you are interested in (support, warranty, relicensing, or a
combination).
Terms, pricing, and availability of any commercial license are determined jointly
by Vetra Automation AB and Ignalina ApS and are set out in the written agreement,
not in this file.
