# **Every `docs/` directory, not only the root one.**
#
# This file said `docs/*.pdf` and nothing else. A `.gitattributes` pattern with a
# slash in it is anchored at the directory the file sits in, so that line covered
# exactly three paths — `docs/{idiot_guide,manual,unsorted}.pdf` — and nothing
# under `crates/*/docs/`.
#
# MEASURED 2026-08-27: `crates/nornir-saga/docs/book.pdf` is a 132-byte Git-LFS
# POINTER committed as a plain blob. `git check-attr filter` on it answered
# `unspecified`, so no smudge filter has ever looked at it and no `git lfs
# checkout` in any worktree could ever restore it — it is a file that reads as
# present in every listing and can never be opened. The 168 621 B it names does
# exist on the LFS server (fetched by oid to confirm), so nothing was lost; the
# pattern was simply never asked about it.

# **QUARANTINE — `parked-gix*` trees are read-only sediment.** Three PDFs
# live under one, as ordinary blobs. The `**/docs/*.pdf` line above would newly
# route them through the LFS clean filter and show them as modified in every
# `git status` in this repo, which is the opposite of leaving them alone.

# ── bench receipts ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
# `bench_history.jsonl` is APPEND-ONLY: one BenchRun per line, never edited,
# never reordered. Two branches that each measured a run both appended at the
# end, and the default merge driver calls that a conflict over a line neither
# of them changed.
#
# `merge=union` keeps BOTH sides' lines. That is correct here and only here,
# because a receipt carries its own uuid v7 id: a line that ends up duplicated
# by a merge is refused by `nornir bench replay` on that id rather than written
# twice. The file is the bench ARCHIVE — git-replicated, versioned, readable
# with no warehouse, no catalog and no server — so losing a line to a conflict
# resolution is losing a measurement.
